To Our Friends

and Supporters

Some individuals spend their lives searching for the silver lining, trying to find light in the darkness or learning how to turn pain into purpose. I am not one of those individuals. Resilience and perseverance have always run deeply through my veins.

My name is Jamie Angell. I was born and raised in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Providence and later became a longtime resident of Cranston. From a young age, basketball was the love

of my life. I became a McDonald's All-American, received Division I scholarship offers from colleges across the country, and had the opportunity to pursue professional basketball.

Then, a devastating injury changed the direction of my life. What followed were 16 years of active addiction - years that included detoxes, treatment programs, overdoses, jail, and some of the darkest moments of my life. Eventually, my pain and desperation became the motivation to fight for something different. My greatest setback became the beginning of my greatest comeback.

Today, I proudly stand with 10 years of continuous recovery and use my experiences as an empowerment speaker in my community, sharing a message of hope with those still struggling and reminding them that recovery is possible.

In 2019, I lost my only brother, James Lincoln Angell Ill, to a substance use overdose. His loss brought unimaginable grief and ultimately defined my "why." Some people spend their entire lives searching for their purpose. Losing James defined mine.

I created the James Lincoln Foundation to be my brother's voice, honor his life, and ensure his legacy continues through helping others. Through charitable donations, community events, and fundraising, ow- mission is to provide recovery support and ultimately fund the James Lincoln House, a future women's residential recovery home where women can find safety, support, hope, and an opportunity to rebuild their lives.

What began as pain has become pw-pose. This is my forever mission - to carry my brother's legacy forward and change one life at a time as my brother's keeper.

With gratitude,

Jamie Angell
